„Does Life Drawing Still Matter?“ – AEF General Membership Meeting (on zoom) Saturday April 22, 2023. 10:00am PST.  Animation Teachers talking shop.

ATTENTION ANIMATION EDUCATORS: THIS SATURDAY!! Please join us for our annual AEF General Membership Meeting (on zoom) Saturday April 22, 2023. 10:00am PST.  Animation Teachers talking shop.

Our topic will be: Does Life Drawing Still Matter?
Animation colleges screening for new freshmen recently have noticed an absence of figure drawing and sketchbook pages from student portfolios. Perhaps the covid lockdown of the past three years had discouraged drawing sessions with models and from life? Some schools have discontinued their life drawing courses. With Ai, digital rendering, real time mocap and generations raised to use a stylus rather than a pencil, is learning life drawing still necessary for a career in animation? Join hosts Monika Salter of the University of Texas, Lee Crowe of Savannah College of Art & Design, Kathy Baur Assist Professor Cal State Fullerton, and Tom Sito of The University of Southern California with extra guests.

The event is FREE! You don’t have to be a member! Its on ZOOM so you don’t have to drive anywhere. You can watch it in your underwear!
