Diploma film The Beauty nominated for a Student Academy Award

The Beauty, a diploma film produced at Animationsinstitut of the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, is among the nominees of the Student Academy Awards 2020. The animated short film The Beauty (Director: Pascal Schelbli, VFX Supervisor: Marc Angele, Animation: Noel Winzen, Producers: Tina Vest, Aleksandra Todorovic) received a nomination in the category „Animation (International Film Schools)“ along with two other finalists. The Student Academy Awards ceremony will take place on October 15, 2020.
The Beauty deals with oceans being polluted by plastic. The film takes the audience on a poetic journey through a fascinating underwater world, where plastic and nature become one. For one breath, worries and feelings of guilt seem to dissolve between eerily beautiful coral reefs and the mysterious depths of the ocean.
The short film already won the renowned VES Award in the category „Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project“ and received the Jury’s Choice Award at the first virtual SIGGRAPH.
The Student Academy Award, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is considered the film industry’s most important award for student projects.

Der am Animationsinstitut der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg entstandene Diplomfilm The Beauty ist für die Student Academy Awards 2020, kurz „Student Oscars“, nominiert. Der Animationskurzfilm The Beauty (Regie: Pascal Schelbli, VFX Supervisor: Marc Angele, Animation: Noel Winzen, Producerinnen: Tina Vest, Aleksandra Todorovic) kann neben zwei weiteren Finalisten auf eine Auszeichnung in der Kategorie „Animation (International Film Schools)“ hoffen. Die Verleihung der Student Academy Awards findet am 15. Oktober 2020 statt.
The Beauty befasst sich mit der Verschmutzung der Weltmeere durch Plastikmüll. Der Kurzfilm schickt die Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer auf eine poetische Reise durch eine faszinierende Unterwasserwelt, in der Plastik und Natur eins werden. Für einen Atemzug lang lösen sich Sorgen und Schuldgefühle zwischen schaurig schönen Korallenriffen und den geheimnisvollen Tiefen des Ozeans auf.
Der Kurzfilm gewann bereits den renommierten VES Award in der Kategorie „Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project“ und wurde bei der ersten virtuellen Ausgabe der SIGGRAPH mit dem Jury’s Choice Award ausgezeichnet.
