Studio Film Bilder, Stuttgart: A Stampede of Deals for ‘Animanimals’

Studio Film Bilder and Meta Media Entertainment are delighted to announce that their new award-winning series Animanimals has been picked up by the following broadcasters and platforms:

KiKA/SWR, Beijing iQIYI* Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (iQIYI)of Chof China, TATA Sky India, PTS Taiwan, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland, NRK Norway, Jim Jam (pan Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia), Discovery Kids MENA, Hopster, Télé-Québec and Knowledge Network of Canada and TV New Zealand. Further sales are in negotiation.

Each of the 26 non-dialogue episodes features a different animal facing an absurd adventure with a surprise ending. This delightful comical series has already won twenty prestigious prizes across the world, including the Audience Award at the New York Children’s Film Festival for two consecutive years – for the films ‘Zebra’ and ‘Octopus’ – and the award for the Best Film for Young Children at the Chicago Children’s Film Festival for ‘Zebra’.

The film ‘Penguin’ has just been selected for the official competition at the Berlinale Generation section (Feb 15-25).  In February 2018, the New York Children’s Film Festival will screen ten Animanimals films.

The family entertainment series Animanimals (26 x 4’) is produced by highly experienced and creatively driven Studio Film Bilder in Stuttgart, which has also garnered many awards over its 28-year history. It is co-produced by leading German children’s channel KiKA as well as regional German broadcaster SWR and funded by regional Film Funds MFG as well as MDM. Thomas Meyer-Hermann, founder of Studio Film Bilder says, „All stories are driven by director Julia Ocker’s engaging sense of humour. There is laughter and empathy throughout the story, and then excitement at the clever and creative solution.“

Julia Ocker, award-winning animator and creator of Animanimals says “the open structure of the series enables me to include just about any idea – however crazy – as long as it is funny enough.“

Half of the twenty-six Animanimals episodes were delivered in August 2017 with the remaining half to be delivered by the end of January 2018.

Animanimals is distributed worldwide by Meta Media Entertainment, a London based distributor specialising in high quality children’s animation series for broadcasters and digital platforms.

Thomas Meyer-Herrmann ist der erfolgreiche Leiter des Studio Film Bilder in Stuttgart. Die Biographie des geborenen Kölners findet sich auf der Webseite seines Studios, auch die Erfolgstory des 1989 in Stuttgart gegründeten Trickfilmstudios läßt sich dort sehr schön nachvollziehen. Für INDAC nahm sich der vielbeschäftigte Produzent und Regisseur, der einer bestimmten Trickfilmfigur seines Studios verblüffend ähnlich sieht, die Zeit für ein Interview.
