EUROPEAN COMMISSION Shaping Europe’s digital future: „The audiovisual sector in a post-pandemic world: focus on animation.“

The European Film Forum goes digital for the Annecy 2020 Online Festival

The audiovisual sector has been hugely impacted by COVID-19. Players across the value chain, from production down to distributors and cinemas have all had to face considerable disruption because of the pandemic, including those in the animation sector. The Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2020 is taking place online and Creative Europe MEDIA has organised a virtual European Film Forum to discuss „The audiovisual sector in a post-pandemic world: focus on animation.“

The animation sector may be more resilient than others, but its market has also been disrupted. How has the animation sector reacted? What are the differences that exist between the animation industry and the wider audiovisual industry? What lessons can be learnt from animation and what does the future hold? As people continue to work from home and productions have been halted or delayed, can animation be part of the solution?

These will be some of the questions addressed by the panel of experts that will look into the impact of the crisis and how it will shape the coming years.

The digital live event will take place on 18 June from 3 to 4 pm and the recording will be made availabale afterwards to the wider public via our social media platforms.

More information about the agenda, the speakers and how to join the meeting will be soon available. Meanwhile… save the date!
