Täglich einen Kurzen: „Histoire pour deux trompets“ by Amandine Meyer

It’s been a very long time. This year I quit art college and began working as a freelancer for Japanese anime, so I haven’t had as much time to post personal projects. I’m a bit sad there’s not as much time to work on personal animations anymore, and next year there will be even less. But through my professional work I’ve met so many incredible people and worked on amazing projects, that I’m very excited for 2023 and the future. Thank you for your support despite my inactivity. Animateka 2022 INTERVIEW: Jelena Popović

Interviewed by Veronika Zakonjšek during the 19th edition of Animateka International Animated Film Festival.

28 NOV – 04 DEC 2023
LJUBLJANA (SI)

An English Program Animation and Interactive Studio producer since 2014, Jelena Popović forged her skills as a production manager and associate producer on linear, interactive, hybrid documentaries. and animation films. She directed and co-wrote the documentary The Knights of Orlando (2007). Recent studio productions include Sheldon Cohen’s My Heart Attack, Manivald, by Chintis Lundgren (co-produced with Estonia and Croatia), and the Naked Island online series of wryly dark “public service alerts”. Jelena works with many Hothouse alums, including Alex Boya (Turbine), David Barlow-Krelina (Caterpillarplasty), Eva Cvijanović (Hedgehog’s Home, co-produced with Croatia’s Bonobostudio) and Frances Adair McKenzie (the VR The Orchid and the Bee).

2017 / Canada, Croatia & Estonia Manivald, a fox, is turning 33. Overeducated, unemployed and generally uninspired, he lives with his overbearing, retired mother. It is an easy life, but not a good one. This unhealthy co-dependence changes when the washing machine breaks down and Toomas, a sexy wolf repairman, arrives to fix it – and them. Director Chintis Lundgren Producers Chintis Lundgren, Draško Ivezic & Jelena Popović

Täglich einen Kurzen: „The Orchid and the Bee (360º video version)“ by Frances Adair Mckenzie

The Orchid and the Bee (360º video version) from National Film Board of Canada on Vimeo.

Nature is wondrous and clever. As Darwin taught us, those who improvise most effectively prevail. There are species who under threat revert to earlier forms, others who cultivate parasitic relationships with neighbouring beings, while the most inventive ones transform their bodies to mimic and seduce unsuspecting companions. The Orchid and the Bee is an expressionistic VR ode to life’s struggle for existence, explored through a chain of genetic love affairs.

Produced by the National Film Board of Canada, directed by Frances Adair Mckenzie.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish | Who is Your Favorite Fearless Hero? | Extended Preview

For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.

Academy Award® nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Softpaws (Oscar® nominee Salma Hayek Pinault). In their quest, Puss and Kitty will be aided—against their better judgment—by a ratty, chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt, Perrito (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows). Together, our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldi (Oscar® nominee Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the Three Bears Crime Family, Jack Horner (Emmy winner John Mulaney, Big Mouth) and terrifying bounty hunter, the big, bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos).
