Ein Kind ist mit seinen Eltern auf einer Geburtstagsfeier. Es bekommt einen Kuscheltierfuchs geschenkt, damit es sich den Abend über beschäftigen kann. Als der Fuchs von der weitläufigen Terrasse in den englischen Garten fällt, der mit zahlreichen Steinskulpturen übersät ist, steigt das Kind missmutig die vielen Treppenstufen hinunter. Aber die Stelle, an welcher der Fuchs liegen müsste, ist leer. Das Kind traut seinen Augen kaum, als es durch die Bäume beobachtet, wie sich die Tiere versammeln und der Fuchs ihnen sein Leid klagt. Als das Kind vom Ruf seiner Mutter aus dem Bann gezogen wird, stehen die Statuen wieder an Ort und Stelle und der Fuchs liegt regungslos im Gras. Liebevoll hebt es ihn auf – war alles nur ein Traum?
