The difference between the Europeans and the rest of the world: A whirling knife in the hands of a child.

Is this a sensitive cut or does this change the expectations of the potential audience by omitting the moment that defines the characters?
I could not help noticing, that there is a significant difference between the US trailer and the european trailer, or better let´s say between the european trailer and the trailer released in the rest of the world.
The european trailer has been censored, cut, shortened right in the beginning when Jo is taking out her knife and flips it open, holding it in front of Raissa´s face.
This is taken out of the trailer in the european version, while it remained in all the other trailers I found all over the net.
Why is that and does that mean the cut will also be in the final movie here in Europe?
Normally I would not mind, because there are perhaps good arguments not to show a kid whirling a knife. But here, in this case and in my humble opinion the cut damages the trailer because this is essential to the tone of the film and especially to the character design of both protagonists. Jo is wild and Raissa is fearless, together they will be a great team.
So in taking this out, the Europeans will have greater difficulties to understand and to connect to those two characters.
And while some may say, the knife scene is too threatening, I would argue that in the following montage, where both kids create their memories together, there is more wild, dangerous stuff happening then showing off with a knife. Especially when the teens are driving a bus being chased by the police….
So, I like the US trailer more then the european one. What do you think?

Today the programme reveals the Annecy 2026 official poster, a part of the selected films and the two brand-new competition categories.
“While searching for an image that captures the spirit of the Annecy Festival, I combined my love of eccentric animals engaging in human-like behaviour with a gathering of native birds from the Haute-Savoie region – a spiral pilgrimage that reflects the diversity of people bound by a common love for cinema and animation film.”
Randall Finnerty
Randall Finnerty is a visual artist originally from Northern Ontario, Canada. He has lived in Montreal since 1992, where he worked for 24 years at the National Film Board of Canada as Technical Advisor on numerous award-winning animated short films. During that time, he maintained an active practice as an exhibiting artist.
Since his retirement from the NFB, he has concentrated solely on his own practice and is thrilled to be able to combine the two worlds that he loves – drawing and animation. He has exhibited his work in group and solo exhibitions across Canada and was included in a travelling group exhibition that toured various cities in Europe.
His work has appeared in a variety of art publications and is held in public and private collections including the Canada Council Art Bank

As part of this…
The R&D/Innovation component of the business would be absorbed by Sony Group’s R&D operation.
PXO’s VFX operations would close after the completion of any outstanding projects or contracts…SPE is streamlining VFX efforts internally to focus on its Imageworks capabilities.
Clara operations would begin to wind down as well, with potential for some business initiatives associated with Sony Group to be transferred over.
All outstanding contracts will be fulfilled.
Plans are very much still in development and subject to legal and regulatory process.

ICON Creative Studio, Canada’s largest independently owned CG animation studio announced today it will produce, in partnership with L.A. based Animation creative executive Pilar Flynn and writer Rafael Agustín, an animated short film adaptation of Isabel Allende’s internationally acclaimed story “Dos Palabras.“ This marks the first time the legendary Chilean novelist has granted screen adaptation rights to the work, her most requested adaptation among all her short stories. Allende, who is one of the world’s most widely-read Spanish language authors, will also serve as an Executive Producer on the project. A luminous tale about the transformative power of words, the story follows Belisa Crepusculario, a woman who sells words so potent that they even influence a powerful man’s quest for the presidency. Steeped in mystery and magical realism, the tale explores a timeless choice that confronts us all – whether to use words to inspire connection…or to unravel it.
“I am thrilled to soon see one of my oldest short stories adapted by an incredible team. It’s a story about the power of words, and I can’t wait to see it brought to life” said Isabel Allende.

Pilar Flynn, two-time Emmy Award winner and Peabody nominee for Disney’s „Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,“ will direct and serve as executive producer and co-writer. Flynn, who was named one of „The 50 Most Powerful People in Kids‘ Entertainment“ by The Hollywood Reporter, was also a producer on Disney’s critically acclaimed “Elena of Avalor,” which follows Disney’s first princess inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.
„Being a native of Chile and Ecuador with over two decades of experience in the animation industry, directing and writing this film is a dream realized. I am excited for the opportunity to weave my heritage and artistic expression together to bring Isabel’s vivid magical realism to life,” said Flynn.

Bei der Oscar®-Verleihung war DIE KLEINE AMÉLIE ODER DER CHARAKTER DES REGENS in der Kategorie Bester Animationsfilm nominiert und wurde damit bereits vor seinem deutschen Kinostart auf internationaler Bühne für seine außergewöhnliche künstlerische Qualität und emotionale Erzählkraft gewürdigt.

Als die kleine Amélie geboren wird, befindet sie sich in einer Art vegetativen Zustand: Sie schwebt wie in einer Blase, kein Geschrei, keine körperlichen Reaktionen, nur neugierige grüne Augen, die alles aufsaugen. Für die in Japan lebende belgische Familie ist das aber kein Grund zur Sorge, sie sind optimistisch und vergöttern ihre kleine Tochter. Doch an ihrem zweiten Geburtstag bringt ein Erdbeben Amélies Blase zum Platzen und sie wird hineingeworfen in eine Welt, die ganz anders ist, als sie es sich vorgestellt hat.
Erst ein Stück feinster belgischer Schokolade schafft es, die Überreizung ihrer Sinne zu beruhigen und ihre kindliche Neugier auf das Leben zurückkehren zu lassen. Voller Lebensfreude entdeckt Amélie an der Seite von Nishio-san, der Haushälterin ihrer Familie, die Wunder der Natur und die emotionalen Facetten, die sich hinter dem scheinbar idyllischen Familienleben verbergen.

Die neue animierte Abenteuerserie für Kinder und Familien „Mein Bruder, der Minotaurus“ startet am Freitag, 24. April weltweit auf Apple TV. Die vom Oscar-nominierten Animationsstudio Cartoon Saloon und dem preisgekrönten Unternehmen für Kindermedien Dog Ears produzierte Serie dreht sich um universelle Themen wie Erwachsenwerden, das Gefühl, anders zu sein, und die Suche nach dem eigenen Platz im Leben. Dabei geht es darum, Menschen zu finden, die einen wirklich sehen, und Orte, an denen man sich zu Hause fühlt.
Eine spannende Mischung aus Folklore, Mystery und Abenteuer über einen jungen Minotaurus – halb Junge, halb Stier –, der gefunden und in der Welt der Menschen aufgezogen wird. Mit der Hilfe seines treuen menschlichen Bruders sammelt er eine mutige Gruppe von Freund:innen um sich, um das Geheimnis seiner Minotaurus-Vergangenheit zu lüften und sein Schicksal zu vollenden, während er gegen dunkle Mächte kämpft, die auf sein Scheitern aus sind.
