“Young Love” is created by Matthew A. Cherry, who will executive produce and showrun with long-time animation creative Carl Jones (The Boondocks, Black Dynamite). The series will be executive produced by Karen Rupert Toliver and Blue Key Entertainment’s Monica A. Young along with Lion Forge Animation’s David Steward II and Carl Reed.

Sage – Lost

The collaborative bunch at Girl & Bear (VCCP’s production arm) approached us to develop, design and direct ‘a few’ commercials for Sage, the accounting, financial, HR and payroll tech company for small and mid-sized businesses. A few, as it turned out, was 14 x 30” AND they wanted them on telly boxes around the world within 2 ½ months. This was a project that needed to be visually developed from scratch. After a “Noooo problem!” and a collective dry swallow from our team, we regained composure, a week later, and got down to the nitty. The ads are all driven by real voices of business, and so the treatment of the films required a personal touch to visually echo these quotes by real people. We chose a tactile illustrative style with bright colours, featuring ‘big friendly giants’ who would integrate playfully on black and white live action backdrops. The voices would lead the development of the stories. Sage enables businesses to flow because owners are spending more time doing what they do best, while Sage deals with their accountancy. And flow is represented by the green ‘Flow line’ – it’s considered the enabler. It can be playful and helpful – we imagined it to be like a dolphin swimming alongside you. A nice friendly personality to help you on your way. This project has been a thoroughly rewarding experience for us at Seed – being part of the creative team that helped to develop this campaign from early days, and working with some phenomenal talent along the way. Tricky Women/Tricky Realities VIENNA 2024 – SHOW US YOUR FILMS AND VR/AR-PROJECTS!

It’s the time: Tricky Women/Tricky Realities is accepting entries for the 2024 festival edition, taking place in Vienna from the 6th to the 10th of March, 2024. The deadline for applications for the preliminary selection is October 6th, 2023.

Tricky Women/Tricky Realities focuses on animated films made by women and/or genderqueer artists and therefore fills a unique position within the international festival landscape.

We cannot wait to see your powerful, subversive and evocative animated films! Our only parameters are that at least 50% of the film is animated and 50% of the directresses are female/genderqueer artists. Please find all info about the Call >> here.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The festival offers an international competition of animated short films finished after January 1st, 2022 and realised by female/queer-feminist artists (male co-directors are welcome). Each filmmaker, producer or distributor may submit as many films as they like. No films entered in prior Tricky Women/Tricky Realities Festivals shall be admitted. The deadline for applications for the preliminary selection is October 6th, 2023. The preliminary selection will be announced in the end of January 2024.

NEW CATEGORY IN COMPETITIONS: VR (Virtual Reality ) & AR (Augmented Reality)

We welcome projects with high artistic quality and unique experiences that thrive in the virtual realm, both linear and non-linear narratives. This program is a cooperation with the Artificial Museum and XR Vienna.
SPECIAL CALLS

In addition to works for the competition programs, we are also eager to receive films for our non-competitive categories (older works are also welcome here): Feminist Topics, Labor/Work Affairs/Fair Play (in cooperation with the Arbeiterkammer Wien) and animated documentaries.
