Legendary filmmaker, animator, writer, and voice actor Chris Sanders (you may know him as “Stitch”) joins his sound team — including our first-ever guest on this podcast, Randy Thom — to talk about their stunning work on the latest animated adventure/tearjerker from DreamWorks Animation, “The Wild Robot.” A truly visual spectacle, the film has an appropriately spectacular soundtrack, which Chris and the team relished in crafting its richness and complexity for over two years. “We didn’t have any score at all for a while. So one of the really neat things about the opening [reel] is that it’s all sound design. It’s all sound effects, which is really, really cool. I was impressed with how much detail — and it was necessary to have that kind of detail — and because we had the opportunity of getting as deep into this as we wanted to. Over 50 Works Compete for a Spot Among the Finalists of the 8th Ibero-American Quirino Awards.

▪  52 works aspire to a place among the finalists in the ten categories of the Awards.
▪ The finalists will be announced during the third week of March in Buenos Aires while the winners will be announced on May 10th in Tenerife.
▪ The Quirino Co-Production and Business Forum is now open for registration.  

Tenerife, February 19, 2025 – The Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards have announced the nominees for their eighth edition. Selected from 263 submissions, 52 works from 14 countries seek a place among the finalists in the ten categories of these awards, created to promote the talent and industry of Ibero-American animation. The finalists will be announced during the third week of March in Buenos Aires, in a ceremony that will be streamed online, while the winners will be announced at the Awards Gala on May 10th in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, with the main sponsorship of the Council of Tenerife through Tenerife Tourism. The film was written by Klick Health and was inspired by inspired by the real story of a Café Joyeux employee with Down syndrome who didn’t get his first job until he was 47.

ROBERT

Rejected by others as a child, our character embarks on a personal journey symbolized by a sailboat. Along the way, he faces challenges that represent different life stages. In these scenarios, he recognizes that the world simply isn’t ready to recognize his greatness and continues his odyssey.

Finally, at age 47, he finds acceptance and purpose at Café Joyeux, a place where the world embraces his extraordinary abilities.
