Press Release March, 12th – FMX
The wait is over, the program of the 30th FMX has been revealed! To get the full picture, please click here. Our Early Bird options are available until March 20 – smart savers make it to the FMX Ticketshop in time.
The FMX 2026 program contains the diversity of topics the conference stands for and addresses the latest and hottest in VFX, animation and digital media creation.
We’re happy to announce some new confirmations. One of them: the wizards from Lux Aeterna are revealing the secrets behind their fascinating experiment „RENO“.
We’re also happy to have a presentation on a tool everyone seems to be talking about right now: Moonvalley’s generative AI model.
Last not least there’s a strong European collaboration to admire: VFX supervisors from The Yard VFX and TRIXTER will demonstrate how cross-studio collaboration can become a success formula and add to the magic.

„RENO“ – Exploring New Realms in
Visual Effects Through Sci-Fi Filmmaking
Lux Aeterna is known for its award-winning VFX work on productions including „The Crown“, „Human“ and „Our Universe“. With „RENO“, the studio turned that expertise inward, producing an original sci-fi short film as a live testbed for virtual production and machine learning workflows.
In this session, Tav Flett (Compositing Supervisor), Rob Hifle (Founder & Director), James Pollock (Creative Technologist), and Paul Silcox (VFX Director) break down the process behind „RENO“: how a traditionally post-driven VFX studio re-engineered its pipeline for a newly opened virtual production stage, how environments were designed for in-camera capture, and how tools such as Gaussian splat scanning, automated rotoscoping and marker removal streamlined production.
Across creative, technical and production perspectives, the team shares practical lessons from delivering a high-ambition project with a lean crew, demonstrating how craft and technology must evolve together.
This session is part of the FMX track Shorts.

The Human Craft Behind Generative Video for VFX
Generative video becomes meaningful in VFX when it supports storytelling craft, not when it produces standalone clips. The talk of Ben Lock, Head of Production Strategy at Moonvalley, reframes the space through a VFX lens: the unit of value is the shot, and the standard is continuity, direction, and repeatability. It presents a practical shot-first framework for using generative video inside VFX pipelines, informed by work with Moonvalley’s generative video model.
The emphasis is craft and control: how to define shot intent, constrain variation, manage continuity, and keep iteration productive through supervisor-facing review loops. A live-action photoreal digital character workflow grounds the framework in process, constraints, and failure modes that show up in review and finishing. The session closes with the road ahead: multimodal inputs from standard production artifacts as control surfaces that make generative video more directable and reliable.
This session is part of the FMX track The Road Ahead.

The Predator from Yautja – Made in Europe
In this joint FMX presentation, VFX supervisors Laurens Ehrmann from The Yard VFX and Dominik Zimmerle from TRIXTER reveal the European VFX expertise behind „Predator: Badlands“. Built on shared assets and constant creative exchange, the film’s VFX production thrived on collaboration. The supervisors will discuss how they actively referenced and inspired one another’s work across studios, using shared look development and even assets to ensure continuity while elevating environments, characters, creatures, and effects.
The session also dives deep into their favorite sequences, highlighting the creative and technical challenges that defined them. More than a showcase of shots, this presentation demonstrates how cross-studio collaboration and shared inspiration across European VFX houses strengthened both craft and storytelling.
This session is part of the FMX track VFX for Features.
