From Toy Story to Peppa Pig to Mirror’s Edge, animation allows us to experience stories and characters that would be impossible to pull off in live action. If you have strong artistic skills and an interest in character or story, there are numerous roles in animation you might want to consider. An understanding of different animation techniques will help you work out where you might fit, whether it’s games animation, hand-drawn animator, digital painter or others. It goes without saying you’ll need to be a strong visual communicator, but you’ll also need a good understanding of character development and movement. Bags of patience and perseverance are essential too.
