Before everyone leaves for their well-deserved summer vacation, we are officially ringing in the new festival year with our Call for Entries. Yay! Until October 6 we are looking forward to receiving your films and/or virtual reality projects for Tricky Women Tricky Realities 2025.
Our 22nd festival edition will take place from March 5-9, 2025 and we can’t wait to celebrate visionary, extraordinary animated works by women and/or genderqueer artists with you next spring.
THE COMPETITION PROGRAMS
Until October 6 you can submit your new animated films for our competition programs. There are awards worth 22,000 euros up for grabs, including the Maria Lassnig Golden Film Reel, endowed with 10,000 euros. For the second time, in cooperation with XRVienna, we are also dedicating a separate competition category to animated works from the field of virtual and mixed reality. Show us your artistic and creative virtual worlds!
SPECIAL CALLS
Your film is older, but fits perfectly in our festival program? Then we also look forward to receiving your submission by October 6 for our non-competitive categories: Feminist Topics, Work Affairs/Fair Play (in cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Labor) and Animated Documentaries.
Please find the Conditions of Competition and further information about the Call >> here.
You can submit via FilmFreeway >> here.
We are very much looking forward to receiving your entries! And please spread the word for Tricky Women Tricky Realities 2025.
#TWTR24 REVISITED: THE PRESENTATIONS OF BEST PRACTICE ARE ONLINE
From cyberfeminism and extended reality to the interface between animation and documentary film – the talks and presentations of our International Forum Best Practice at the Austrian Film Museum impressively demonstrated that the transformative power of animation knows no boundaries. The lectures are now available online on our Vimeo channel.
Best Practice 2024 focused on the potential of the impossible/possible. While Katrin Rothe explores the interface between documentary and animated film, Nina Bandi deals with current developments and, above all, the potential of techno- and cyberfeminism. In her lecture, Isabel de Peuter-Rutten reveals how XR is redefining the boundaries of what is possible, shaking up the film and animation industry and making previously underrepresented voices heard.
We look forward to your submissions and wish you a wonderful, relaxing and inspired summer!
