The Animationsinstitut at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is one of the world’s leading educational institutions of its kind. It trains outstanding talents at the highest level in the fields of animation, visual effects, technical direction, animation/effects producing and interactive media. The institute also runs a research & development department and hosts the international FMX (Film & Media eXchange) conference each year. The Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is looking to appoint a new

Director (m/f/x) of the Animationsinstitut
in a full-time position (40 hours a week), starting on 01.01.2023.

The Institute Director defines the artistic profile, thematic focus and organizational processes of the institution, represents it both externally and internally, and is responsible for ensuring its continuous development and for adapting to current trends in the field of animation-driven moving-image media. The Director is supported by a skilled team comprising 25 full-time positions. The Director is responsible for all the institute’s activities, in particular:

• The strategic further development of the institute’s thematic focus and organiza-tional processes in the national and international context, with support from the Filmakademie’s management board
• The conception of teaching activities
• Erstellen von Festival-Einreichungen und Präsentationsmedien
• The conception of the institute’s technical provision, IT infrastructure and digital image postproduction
• The thematic focus of the international conference FMX
• The further development of research & development activities
• Mitarbeit bei Online-Veranstaltungen, Live-Streaming und Workshops
• The institute’s international network and focus
• The institute’s HR investment funds and equipment as defined in a fiscal plan, in collaboration with the Animationsinstitut’s Head of Finance
• The further development of the institute as a brand with international reach
• Representing the institute externally, cultivating contacts with other institutions in order to realise the Animationsinstitut’s objectives

Your profile:

• Experience developing and producing animation films and/or VFX productions
• Experience managing production companies in the fields of animation and/or VFX
• Experience in personnel management and structure management, as well as busi-ness knowledge and experience dealing with finances
• International reputation and network
• Relevant experience designing, winning and implementing Europe-wide grant ap-plications
• You have the ability to think strategically about the further development of the Animationsinstitut, you have a strong sense of social responsibility, and you are open and sensitive to the issues of sustainability, diversity and equality. You also demonstrate an inclusive management style, strong commitment and excellent communication skills.

Die Institutsleitung prägt das künstlerische Profil, die inhaltliche Ausrichtung und die organisatorischen Abläufe, repräsentiert das Institut nach innen und außen und sorgt für seine stete Weiterentwicklung sowie die Anpassung an aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bereich animationsgetriebener Bewegtbildmedien. Dabei wird Sie von einem kompetenten Team (25 Vollzeitstellen) unterstützt. Sie ist verantwortlich für alle Aufgaben des Institutes, insbesondere für:

• die strategische Weiterentwicklung der inhaltlichen Ausrichtung und der organisatorischen Abläufe des Instituts im nationalen und internationalen Kontext mit Unterstützung der Geschäftsführung der Filmakademie
• die Konzeption des Lehrbetriebs
• die Konzeption der technischen Ausstattung des Instituts sowie der IT-Infrastruktur und der digitalen Bild-Postproduktion
• die inhaltliche Ausrichtung der internationalen Konferenz FMX
• die Weiterentwicklung der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten
• die internationale Vernetzung und Ausrichtung des Institutes
• die – in einem Teilwirtschaftsplan festgelegten Personal-Investitions- und Sachmittel des Institutes in Zusammenarbeit mit der kaufmännischen Leitung Animationsinstitut
• die Weiterentwicklung des Instituts als Marke von internationaler Strahlkraft
• Repräsentation des Instituts nach außen, Kontaktpflege mit anderen Institutionen zur Verwirklichung der Ziele des Animationsinstituts

Ihr Profil

• Erfahrung in der Entwicklung und Herstellung von Animationsfilmen und/oder VFXProduktionen
• Erfahrung in der Leitung von Produktionsfirmen in den Bereichen Animation und/oder VFX
• Erfahrung in Personalführung und Strukturmanagement sowie kaufmännische Kenntnisse und Erfahrung im Umgang mit Finanzen
• Internationale Reputation und Vernetzung
• Einschlägige Erfahrung in der Konzeption, der Akquise und Umsetzung europaweiter Förderanträge
• Sie verfügen über strategisches Denkvermögen zur Weiterentwicklung des Animationsinstituts, besitzen soziales Verantwortungsbewusstsein und sind offen und sensibel für Nachhaltigkeit, Diversität und Gleichstellung. Darüber hinaus zeichnet Sie ein integrativer Führungsstil, hohes Engagement sowie eine hohe Kommunikationsfähigkeit aus.
