Professorship for 3D Animation for Film and Non-linear Media

Your area of work
You teach 3D animation in the newly designed part-time master’s programme 3D Animation for Film and Games, in the master’s programme Digital Narratives and in the bachelor’s programme Film at the ifs internationale filmschule köln. The courses are offered in cooperation with the TH Köln.
Main areas of reponsibilitiy:
– Conception and implementation of courses in English language
– Supporting students in the generation of ideas, project development as well as in the preparation and implemantation of projects
– Bringing in your own professional network, preferably in an international context
– Continuous participation and further development of the curriculum of the 3D-Animation for Film and Games programme
– Participation in selection procedures for the Master 3D Animation for Film and Games
– Promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation, creativity and openness for new developments
It is a professorship under non-civil servant conditions (50%), which is to be filled for a limited period of three years beginning at 12/01/2020.
Your profile
We are looking for an outstanding personality with proven experience in the planning and execution of 3D animation projects. You are familiar with the workflow involved in creating animations for linear and non-linear media.
You are up to the challenge of future-oriented developments in the field of animation and have profound practical knowledge and technical expertise in the field of 3D animation.
You are open for aesthetic and technical innovations and prepare students for future tasks regarding computer animation. You also understand digital design as a task of social relevance.
You have a good network in the animation industry as well as very good written and spoken German and English language skills. Ideally, you have experience in areas such as motion capturing, rigging, animation for real-time applications, augmented reality and virtual reality gained in an international work context.You have experience in teaching and supervising artistic and creative processes and are willing to work in interdisciplinary cooperation with students and professors from other courses and disciplines. You can align your career and actions with the long-term goals of the university as well as the ability to work out solutions together and reliably on the basis of a division of labour. You have a university degree, possibly a doctorate, or can demonstrate a special qualification for artistic work or outstanding subject-related achievements in practice, each of which is to be documented by the report of a university professor. In special exceptional cases, outstanding subject-related achievements in practice can replace a university degree.
