The 31st Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) will take place from 23 to 28 April 2024. The festival focuses on artistic animated film as well as innovative interactive and transmedia works. Comprehensive film and competition programs as well as curated supporting programs guarantee exciting and extraordinary inspirations and insights.
Films completed after October 1, 2022 can now be submitted to the following competitions:
Submission Deadline: December 1, 2023:
- International Competition – International competition for animated short films
- Young Animation – International student film competition for animated short films
- Tricks for Kids – International competition for animated short films and series for children
- Trickstar Nature Award – Competition for animated short films that deal with the topics of climate protection, biodiversity, the environment and sustainability
Submission Deadline: January 17, 2024:
- AniMovie: AniMovie – International competition for animated films of feature length

About ITFS
The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) ranks among the world’s most important events for animated film. Every spring animation enthusiasts, artists and industry professionals come together in a unique, inspiring festival atmosphere to celebrate the world of animation in all its diversity. The focus of the ITFS is on artistic animated film with it’s short and feature film competitions, innovative interactive and transmedia projects, and the promotion of young talent.
Audience talks, presentations and get-togethers foster direct exchange between filmmakers and audiences and promote discourse on films, aesthetics, techniques, and contents.
The free Open Air cinema brings international flair to Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz and offers a unique experience for visitors from Stuttgart and the region. The family-friendly and accessible offer includes programmes for all those interested, regardless of age or background.
In addition, the synergy of ITFS, Animation Production Days and the FMX expert conference provides Stuttgart with a unique platform for the animation industry. The ITFS will take place from April 23 to 28, 2024 – the organizer is Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF).

Vom 23. bis 28. April 2024 findet das 31. Internationalen Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart (ITFS) statt. Im Zentrum des Festivals stehen der künstlerische Animationsfilm sowie innovative interaktive und transmediale Arbeiten. Umfassende Film- und Wettbewerbsprogramme sowie kuratierte Rahmenprogramme garantieren spannende und außergewöhnliche Inspirationen und Insights.
Für folgende Wettbewerbe können ab sofort Filme eingereicht werden, die nach dem 1. Oktober 2022 fertig gestellt wurden:

- Young Animation – Internationaler Studierendenfilm-Wettbewerb für animierte Kurzfilme
- Tricks for Kids – Internationaler Wettbewerb für animierte Kurzfilme und Serien für Kinder
- Trickstar Nature Award – Preis für den besten Animationskurzfilm zu den Themen Klimaschutz, Artenvielfalt, Umwelt und Nachhaltigkeit

Das Internationale Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart (ITFS) gehört zu den weltweit bedeutendsten Veranstaltungen im Bereich des Animationsfilms. Darüber hinaus schafft die Synergie von ITFS, Animation Production Days und dem Fachkongress FMX in Stuttgart eine einmalige Plattform für die Animationsbranche. Das ITFS findet vom 23. bis 28. April 2024 statt – die Veranstalterin ist die Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF).
